Tom Cruise Speaks About Jett Travolta's Death On the View

A shaken Tom Cruise struggled to describe his feelings on the death of Jett Travolta during an appearance that airs Friday on The View.

"It's horrific," said Cruise, a close friend of John Travolta and Kelly Preston (Tom and Kelly starred together in Jerry Maguire) "Both of them doting parents, just wonderful people...it's just..."I remember Jett when he was born. I saw him when he was a few months old and John just adored him," he continued. "It's something I don't have the words..."

With Cruise barely holding it together, Barbara Walters changed the subject, asking if Cruise had a response to critics who claim Scientology prevents parents from giving medication to their ailing children and have suggested the religion's rules played a part in the 16-year-old's death.

"Not true. It's actually the opposite," Cruise said, explaining that adherents are encouraged to go in for physicals and see doctors when ailing.

The interview was taped earlier this week and scheduled to air today, but was preempted by a press conference by President-elect Barack Obama.

Shanon Thomas, 30, is accused of throwing flour in her tenant's face.

"I'm really a good upstanding person. I can't believe this is even happening to me," Thomas told 37th District Visiting Judge Sherman Faunce.

The Macomb Daily reported Michael Nolden, who lived in Thomas' basement, told police Thomas yelled at him to turn his television down, grabbed a bag of flour and threw some in his face, getting into his eyes.

Nolden called police and when officers showed up they noticed there was flour on the floor and couch, according to police reports.

Thomas told the judge Nolden attempted to throw a pan at her.

A not guilty plea was entered on her behalf.
