Mariska Hargitay Experiences More Health Trouble

Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay has been hospitalized again — and this time she needs surgery!

Mariska, who was hospitalized in December and January with a collapsed lung, was filming in New Jersey on Tuesday when she began complaining of chest pains. "Mariska was then taken to the NYC hospital where she was treated last time," a source tells Star.

"This time she needs surgery." A rep for Mariska issued a statement on Wednesday saying, "Mariska Hargitay went to the hospital this morning after experiencing some discomfort relating to her earlier lung condition. She is undergoing routine tests and expects to be feeling better soon."

Another insider tells Star that L&O: SVU is working around her absence for now. "Production will not be affected," her rep confirmed.

Just this past Sunday night Mariska and her hubby Peter Hermann attended the Broadway premiere of Guys and Dolls where she told reporters she was in good health.

American Idol's Top 12 Is Almost Complete

Was there any doubt that Lil Rounds would sail on through?
Ryan Seacrest waved her on even before any bad news was doled out Wednesday—and Kara DioGuardi predicted "just ridiculous vocals every single week" from the 23-year-old mother of three.

But what of Scott MacIntyre, Kristen McNamara, Jorge Nuñez, Ju'Not Joyner, Felicia Barton and Von Smith, all of whom gave quality performances Tuesday night?

Only two of that standout group got to advance, while the rest were either relegated to wild-card possibility or... well, obscurity.

The action heated up after the top three were revealed, though, when the judges announced which eight contestants will get the chance to keep the dream alive by moving on to Idol's first-ever wild card round.

After Lil, Scott's advancement was also expected, and the voters didn't disappoint.
Fan-favorite Jorge was granted entrée to the Top 12, as well.
Joining them in the finals, meanwhile, could be:
• Von Smith: He shouldn't wear a hat when he performs tomorrow, according to Paula.

• Jasmine Murray: "You have to kill us with your vocals," advised Kara.

• Ricky Braddy: The judges already felt he was "pretty flawless," Paula gushed.

• Megan Corkrey: "One of our favorites during audition rounds," praised Simon.

• Tatiana Del Toro: Cue the waterworks. "Thank you so much," she breathed/sobbed over and over again. "Are you looking at the next American Idol?" Ryan (that devil) asked the audience.

• Matt Giraud: "One of the bluesiest, soulful singers" in the bunch, per Kara.

• Jesse Langseth: A unanimous "last-minute change" who won the judges over due to a "unique twist in her voice."

• Anoop Desai: "One of the easiest decisions out of the eight," Simon said.

So, these lucky eight get to sing it out tomorrow for the three remaining spots in American Idol's Top 12.

Jillian Was The Bachelor Creator's Third Choice For Bachelorette

Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss says he approached both Melissa Rycroft and Molly Malaney to be the next Bachelorette before Jillian Harris, the third-place finisher on the Bachelor, was finally given the honor.

When Mesnick proposed to Rycroft three months ago, Fleiss began courting Malaney, he said Wednesday."I said, 'Oh, well, I think Molly's fantastically telegenic and sweet; she'd make a great Bachelorette,'" he said. "I was on the phone with her for maybe two-and-a-half weeks trying to talk her into doing that."He went so far as to let her abandon her confidentiality agreement about what happened on The Bachelor so she could tell friends and family that she was thinking about becoming the Bachelorette."

And so she talked to them and they were all supportive of it, at least her friends were, I know that — and she was just starting to come around to the idea of being the new Bachelorette when this thing happened with Jason," Fleiss said.

What happened with Mesnick, of course, is that he dumped Rycroft and began dating Malaney instead.

At this point, Fleiss began pursuing Rycroft, but she wanted to leave her reality days behind.

In a statement Wednesday, Rycroft said she's happy as a bachelorette with a little b."I'm back in Dallas, pursuing the teaching thing, and attempting to get my life back to normal (if it was ever really normal to begin with)," she wrote. "I don't regret anything that happened over the past few months; because I know I wouldn't be where I am today had none of it happened. I have, however, decided to move on from my reality television days, and get some sense of normalcy back to my life."
