‘The Bachelor’s’ promised shocker may really be one

ABC has been promising us the most shocking finale ever for this season of “The Bachelor.”

I know. They always say that. But this time it might be true.

The identity of the woman Jason Mesnick proposes to in the Final Rose ceremony has been well known since before the season started.

Determined fans at Internet discussion sites such as Reality Fan Forum analyzed the show’s promotional videos and spotted an identifying piece of jewelry on the hand receiving the engagement ring.

But that’s just the beginning of the spoiler madness. If you’re intent on being surprised by the outcome, read no farther. But if you need to know, read through to the rest of this article.

The not so surprising news: the proposee is Melissa Rycroft.

So why, if Melissa has been spoiled for months and seems like the likely choice for Jason even without that information, would ABC be promoting the “shocking” ending to the season? And why add a second “After the Final Rose” special the day after the first one?

Because – according to two independent reports – Jason dumps Melissa at the “After the Final Rose” reunion and proposes to runner-up Molly Malaney.

The news was broken by the blogger Reality Steve, who claims that Jason’s switcheroo was scripted by the producers. The blog Bachelor News refutes Steve’s conspiracy theory, but confirms the Molly-for-Melissa swap happened.

Further, the Reality Blurred web site reports that a major tabloid will soon report the story.

All that still leaves us quite a ways from genuine confirmation, but given “The Bachelor’s” long history of spoilers and leaks, the Watcher thinks it is quite likely.

ABC, as is standard reality-show policy for all networks, refuses to comment on the reports.

But we’re sure ABC could not be happier. Ratings for the season have been good, but they will be sky high for the March 2 finale and the March 3 re-reunion.

I know I’ll be watching.

The 'Focker' family is expanding and the stars of the popular movie franchise are reportedly in talks to appear in the third sequel.

Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro and Owen Wilson are in negotiations to star in the previously announced 'Little Fockers,' according to the Hollywood Reporter. Wilson, who had small roles in the first two installments, could have an expanded role in the new film, the trade magazine reports.

The first two "Fockers" films -- starring Stiller as a liberal male nurse being scrutinized by his conservative, ex-CIA agent father-in-law (De Niro) -- proved popular with moviegoers and earned Universal Pictures more than $800 million worldwide. 'Little Fockers' is expected to revolve around the children of Stiller and his on-screen wife, Teri Polo.

Moviegoers will be seeing less of Kate Winslet in the future.

While the actress has appeared nude in past films – including her Oscar-nominated turn in The Reader – she now says she is done disrobing.

"I think I won't do it again: A. I can't keep getting away with it, and B. I don't want to become 'that actress who always gets her kit off,'" Winslet, 33.

Next up for the six-time Oscar nominee? A break.

"I know how long it's going to be before I feel, okay, I really have to know what I'm doing next, or I'll freak out!” she says. "I know myself, and it's only a matter of time."

Pam Anderson: The Butt Of Fashion Week

Pam Anderson showed up in Richie Rich's fashion show Wednesday night wearing a bejeweled gold swimsuit, platform shoes and a lot of mascara.

Anderson, 41, was the final model, following transsexual icon Amanda Lepore. She did one runway loop alone before going a second time with the designer. This was Richie Rich's first solo show after years as half of Heatherette, who were known more for their over-the-top shows than their fashion.

Bachelor’s Jillian Still Loves Jason (But She’s Not In Love)

Jillian Harris, 29, was a Bachelor front-runner from the first night, but ultimately Jason Mesnick decided they weren’t meant to be more than friends after a steamy soak in a New Zealand spa. The Canadian restaurant designer talked to reporters from her home in Vancouver about the moment she fell in love, her infamous hot dog theory, the possibility of being appearing on The Bachelorette and who she hopes will get the final rose.

Fans of the show were surprised when Jason did not give you a rose. Were you?

I was surprised. It is a unique situation. No matter how hard you’re falling for somebody, you always wonder if it is for real and if he’s the one. You have questions in your mind and heart, but when he let me go, I was sincerely disappointed and surprised.

You said on the show that you had fallen in love with Jason. In hindsight, is that true?

On a scale of one to ten, would he be a ten for what I’m looking for? Maybe not. But of all the men I have dated in my life, he possessed the most qualities that I was looking for. I still love him but I don’t think I am in love with him anymore. It’s like any other breakup. You have to heal yourself. You have to get over it and move on and hope the best for the person.

Who do you feel is a better fit for Jason, Molly or Melissa?

I can see reasons why both girls would be great for him and why they both might not. I became very, very good friends with Melissa. [We] always talked about, if she did win, how fun it would be for us all to get together and have barbecues and laugh about it. Her and I would be friends and I would be part of their life.

Does your hot dog condiment theory need to be reworked after this experience?

I stand by my theory. It is more complicated than I initially thought but Jason might be having some hot dog topping denial. He has a little bit of a ketchup/mustard and I need a little bit of a sauerkraut/mustard.

Would you do The Bachelorette?

I haven’t thought too seriously about it and I haven’t been approached … I don’t want to be famous. I don’t want to be an actress. Part of me wants to stop while I am ahead because I did a great job of presenting myself last time. But the other part of me really wants to find somebody and maybe my prince is just around the corner. I would have to think hard about it.

Brad Pitt Takes His Sons On A Vegas Getaway, While Angelina Has Girl Time

Just days before the Academy Awards, Best Actor nominee Brad Pitt enjoyed a boys' getaway to Las Vegas – with his sons Maddox and Pax.

The guys of the Jolie-Pitt clan (minus 7-month old Knox), were spotted at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Wednesday evening.

The boys' trip comes as Angelina Jolie is spending time with the girls of the family in New York. Jolie was spotted with daughters, Zahara, 4, and Shiloh, 2, shopping at one of their favorite spots in the Big Apple – Lee's Art Shop – on Wednesday.

The day before, Jolie, who is scheduled to begin filming the movie SALT next month, began prep work, looking at costumes and visiting an apartment building that will serve as a production location.

Jolie and Pitt are expected to reunite in time to attend the Oscars this Sunday in Los Angeles. Pitt is up for Best Actor for his role in The Curious Case of Bejamin Button. Jolie is nominated for Best Actress for The Changeling.

Michael Jackson To Auction Off Some "Treasures" This Spring

Luckily for Michael Jackson, there's never been a better economic climate in which to unload a gently used portrait of the artist surrounded by various cultural and historical figures, each donning the Thriller maestro's trademark shades and Swarovski-encrusted white glove.
Right?
This would look great over anyone's fireplace...

The painting, which is expected to fetch somewhere in the vicinity of $600, is one of 2,000 items from the financially strapped singer's personal collection set to be auctioned off this spring.

In anticipation of the four-day fire sale, beginning April 22, Julien's Auctions has revealed the catalog of the eclectic bounty for would-be buyers.

Among the choicer oddities up for grabs: The razor-handed gloves Johnny Depp sported in Edward Scissorhands ($4,000-$6,000); a golf cart complete with Peter Pan-emblazoned cushions and, the pièce de résistance, an image of Jacko-as-Pan on the hood, ($4,000-$6,000); a basketball signed by Michael Jordan ($800-$1,200); an original canvas painting by pal Macauley Culkin (a steal at $200-$300); and potentially oddest of all—a particularly tall order given its company—a vintage sepia photograph of Roddy McDowall inscribed, "To Estelle, In appreciation for all the lovely things you have done for me."

Who Will Get Heath Ledger's Oscar??

If Heath Ledger (WHEN Heath Ledger is more like it--) wins an Academy Award for best supporting actor, his daughter will get to keep the Oscar statuette — but she'll have to wait nearly 15 years to get her hands on it!

Matilda Ledger, the look-alike daughter of the Ledger and actress Michelle Williams, has been designated by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as the eventual owner of her father's Oscar, should he win for "The Dark Knight" on Sunday. But it won't really be hers until she turns 18 on Oct. 28, 2023.

After conversations with Michelle and Heath's parents, a rep for the academy decided that — if Heath wins — Michelle will hold the Oscar in trust until Matilda reaches the age of 18. At that point, she may execute what they call an heir's agreement and keep the statuette — or, if she chooses not to, it will return to the academy.

Taking possession of an Oscar is surprisingly tricky. Winners must sign a contract stating that they won't resell their award without first offering back to the academy for $1. Posthumous statuettes are given to spouses, or, if there is no living spouse, to the oldest child. Heath wasn't married and Matilda is his only child.

As for who will accept the award should Heath win, the show producers are keeping under wraps. Typically though it will be a close relative or an artist who was close to the nominee. It seems unlikely that it will be Michelle, who is taking off a year from acting to give her daughter "the plainest, simplest, most ordinary, habituated routine possible."

Only 3 American Idol Finalists Go On To The Next Round

After 12 contestants performed Tuesday night, only three were sent to the next round of competition on Wednesday’s American Idol. Nine were eliminated.

Keep reading to find out the who made season 8’s top 12 — and who didn’t.

The biggest surprise of the night came at the halfway point of Wednesday’s show: Ryan summoned to center stage both Anoop Desai, 21, and Michael Sarver, 27, (who looks like a countrified Seth Rogan) and told Anoop he was out. Michael would move on to the top 12, thanks to a mere 20,000-vote margin. Anoop had definitely been disappointing the night before, but Michael had been worse.

Did Michael get a boost from Simon saying that — despite his mangling of “I Don’t Want to Be” — his voice was worth keeping in the competition? In the long run, Simon may be right.

Alexis Grace, 21, by far the best singer in Tuesday’s terribly wobbly show, was the one no-brainer of the night, also advancing on to the next round.

Ricky Braddy, 26, had also seemed a plausible candidate to join the top 12. But the fact that viewers didn’t even know him before Monday probably hurt him. Bye bye, Ricky. With him and Anoop out, it seemed more or less pre-ordained that the night’s third and last finalist would be Danny Gokey, 28, who’d been featured prominently so far in the season’s episodes.

But leading up to Gokey’s victory, Idol producers couldn’t resist the sadistic satisfaction of toying with the much-discussed Tatiana del Torro, 24, one last time. Gokey took the stage with her and Ryan informed them that only one would go through. Given Gokey’s popularity with the judges, you could sense the abyss yawning beneath Tatiana’s feet. After all that, she probably doesn’t hope to be brought back as a wild card holder.
