Tina Fey Reveals How She Got Her Scar

When Tina Fey was 5, a stranger approached her in her front yard and slashed her face — hence the scar that runs down the left side of her face.

In the January issue of Vanity Fair, Fey says the experience didn't hold her back. "I proceeded unaware of it. I was a very confident little kid. It's really almost like I'm kind of able to forget about it, until I was on-camera," says Fey. (She is frequently shot from the right on 30 Rock.) Nevertheless, she did get some unsettling news from her therapist about the incident.

"Supposedly, I will go crazy," she says, adding that her young daughter, Alice, may inadvertently trigger the reaction. "My therapist says, 'When Alice is the age that you were, you may go crazy.'"

Simon Says "Mouthy" New Judge Knows Her Stuff; Plus More Season 8 Changes!

With the eighth season of American Idol now just six weeks away, comments from Simon Cowell and a network exec — as well as a new promo — offer a peek at how things might be just a bit different this time around, especially in the wake of last winter's nine percent dip in the key demos.

Speaking about Kara DioGuardi, the singer-songwriter who will join him, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson on the dais this year, Cowell tells TV's Extra, "She's mouthy, this girl. I'm beginning to warm to her." The sometimes bratty Brit then heaps on the most pertinent bit of praise, saying, "I think she knows what she's talking about."

As for broader changes being made to the top-rated program that sends rivals quaking in their boots, Mike Darnell, Fox's president of alternative programming, tells TV Week that this cycle will be "more intimate" and "more raw" than last. "It's going back to ... seeing more of [the contestants'] reality ... a little more of their emotional state," he says.

Madonna And A-Rod Head To Meixco City

Madonna and Alex Rodriguez were both spotted in Mexico City last weekend. The two have not confirmed their romance. But they reportedly had their public "coming out" Nov. 26, when, according to E!, the Yankees third baseman handed Madonna a water bottle during her Miami concert. They also apparently met up on Thanksgiving, after Rodriguez fulfilled his family obligations.

When asked what he thought about being in the capital city the same time as his rumored paramour, the baseball star would only say it was "very good," the Associated Press reports.

The 50-year-old Madonna – whose divorce from Guy Ritchie was finalized just days ago – was in town to perform a pair of concerts on her "Sticky & Sweet" tour.

Rodriguez, meanwhile, was invited to inaugurate a new sports complex in the city, and spent two hours on Sunday teaching kids to bat. "It's a pleasure to talk about baseball, to talk about the importance of keeping children off the streets, out of drugs and out of all the bad things that there are in this life," the 33-year-old said in Spanish.
