Steven Spielberg To Recive Cecil B. DeMille Award For Lifetime Achievement At Golden Globes


Steven Spielberg will recieve the Cecil B. DeMille Award at this year's Golden Globes. He was supposed to receive the honor last year, but the Globes were cancelled due to the the writer's strike.

Spielberg has received six Golden Globes; for Best Director for "Schindler's List" and "Saving Private Ryan," for Best Motion Picture (Drama) for "E.T., The Extra-Terrestrial," "Schindler's List," and "Saving Private Ryan;" and for Best Foreign Language Film For "Letters From Iwo Jima." He received 12 additional Golden Globe nominations; eight as Best Director for "Jaws," "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "E.T., The Extra-Terrestrial," "The Color Purple," "Amistad," "A.I.: Artificial Intelligence" and "Munich," three as a producer on Best Motion Picture (Drama) nominees "The Color Purple," "Empire of the Sun," and "Amistad," and one for his screenplay for "Close Encounters of the Third Kind."

Rumer Willis Is Miss Golden Globe

With parents like Demi Moore and Bruce Willis (not to mention step-dad Ashton Kutcher), it's no surprise that Rumer Willis is a natural It Girl. The up-and-coming actress was appointed Miss Golden Globe in 2008, a role traditionally held by the offspring of Hollywood royalty, when the cancellation of the ceremony led to a postponement of the honor.

Rumer will be Miss Golden Globe this year, next Sunday night, due to the fact that she the show was canelled last year.

In the meantime, Willis has had a very stylish year, starring in ensemble comedy The House Bunny, being honored as one of People's Most Beautiful stars and stealing the spotlight with some killer clothes.

Will Smith Top Money-Maker Of 2008

The Hancock and Seven Pounds actor has been voted the top money-making movie star of 2008, knocking Johnny Depp out of the top spot in the Quigley Poll. Jada Pinkett Smith's husband is only the second African-American actor to top the poll in its 76 year history. Sidney Poitier placed first in 1968.

The Quigley Poll is an annual survey of motion theater owners and film buyers, which asks them to vote for the ten stars that they believe generated the most box-office revenue for their theaters during the year. Robert Downey Jr., Christian Bale, Shia LaBeouf and Harrison Ford rounded out the top five.

In addition to being a bankable actor, Will is also one of Hollywood's most charitable stars. As we reported in the Jan. 5 issue of Star, the Oscar nominated talent recently visited St. Louis Children's Hospital in Missouri and spent time with 12-year-old car accident victim John Bryer and some other patients.

"As a parent, the way he took the time to raise John's spirits — and those of all the children in the room — is something I'll never forget," John's father, Wiley Bryer, told Star. "He's a special guy!"

Kelly Preston's Mom Says Jett Was "The Light Of Our Lives"

Kelly Preston's mom, Linda Carlson, opened up about the death of her grandson, Jett. "I am devastated," Carlson said through tears."He was the light of our lives," she added.

Jett died Friday morning from after he slipped and hit his head on the bathtub or toilet -- or both -- at his family's vacation home in the Bahamas, according to John Travolta's lawyer and close friend, Michael McDermott, and family attorney, Michael Ossi. It's unclear if a seizure caused Jett's fall, or if he had a seizure after the impact.

Ossi said in a statement: "Attempts were made to revive him, but he died at the scene. Jett...had a history of seizures.
Jett was then taken to Rand Memorial Hospital in Freeport, Basil Rahming, the Chief superintendent of the Grand Bahama Police, confirmed Friday.

'Biggest Loser''s Ali Vincent to Sell Weight-Loss Products

When "The Biggest Loser" returns to on January 6, it won't be just for the two-hour debut of "The Biggest Loser: Couples." Rather, the weight-loss competition's first-ever woman winner Ali Vincent will make her QVC debut showcasing "The Biggest Loser" line of healthy lifestyle products at 10 p.m.

"I am excited to appear on QVC and help others achieve their health goals," Ali says. "I know that making lifestyle changes, no matter how big or how small, is a difficult process. 'The Biggest Loser''s products take the guesswork out of the decisions we make and help us stay on track."

Among the products that Ali, who lost 112 pounds during her tenure on the show, will be selling are: "The Biggest Loser" 30-Day Jump Start, a day-to-day planner designed by "The Biggest Loser"'s fitness and nutritional experts, "The Biggest Loser" Stability Ball with Resistance Band and two DVDs and "The Biggest Loser" Body Fat Digital Scale.

"The Biggest Loser: Couples" premieres on NBC on January6, from 8 to 10 p.m. Ali makes her QVC debut immediately following at 10 p.m.

John Travolta's Golden Globes Appearance in Doubt

No word yet on whether John Travolta has officially canceled his next scheduled public appearance after the tragic death on Friday of his 16-year-old son, Jett.

Travolta is slated to appear on Jan. 11 at the 2009 Golden Globe Awards where his latest movie, Bolt, is nominated for best Animated Feature and best Original Song for his duet with co-star Miley Cyrus, "I Thought I Lost You."

An autopsy on Travolta's son is expected to commence on Monday in the Bahamas. One of Travolta's attorneys told reporters that it's likely Jett's body will be flown back to Florida where he will be buried. His mother is actress Kelly Preston, who's been married to Travolta since 1991.

Meanwhile, sources have learned more about the "caretaker" who found Jett's body on Friday morning. He is Jeff Michael Kathrein, a close family friend and professional photographer. Kathrein, 30, has snapped photos of Kelly for a magazine shoot and also has professional ties to John.

On having a wedding soon: “I could see in the not too distant future being married with children, absolutely, but I’m in no crazy rush. I wildly respect him. How he views the world, the lens through which he looks at life is very similar to mine. To have that in common makes me sleep well at night.”

Sarah Palin: 'Over the Moon' About New Grandson


Governor Sarah Palin's first grandchild was born last week and she says the whole family is "over the moon with the arrival of this healthy, beautiful baby."

The Alaska Governor's daughter Bristol Palin and her fiance, Levi Johnston, welcomed their new son, Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, on Dec. 27.

"The road ahead for this young couple will not be easy, but nothing worthwhile is ever easy. Bristol and Levi are committed to accomplish what millions of other young parents have accomplished, to provide a loving and secure environment for their child," Governor Palin says.

"They are both hard workers, they're very strong, and have faith they've made the right decision in setting aside their own interests to make this child their highest priority."

'Gossip Girl' Star Files for Divorce

ET has obtained divorce papers for "Gossip Girl" star Kelly Rutherford and husband Daniel Girsch.

Kelly, who plays Blake Lively's mother, Lilly van Der Woodsen, on the hit CW show, cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split and asked for legal custody of their 2-year-old son, Hermes.

Kelly, who is expecting their second child in June, and Daniel have been married since August 16, 2006.
