Edward "Ted" Kennedy has been hospitalized in Cape Cod after emergency personnel received a 911 call from his Hyannis Port home. Kennedy's reps have released a statement explaining the incident and providing an update on the Mass. senator's health.
"Senator Kennedy experienced a mild seizure at home in Hyannis Port today and was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for examination. Doctors believe the incident was triggered by a change in medication. Senator Kennedy will return home tonight and looks forward to watching the debate," Kennedy's reps tell us.
The Associated Press says Kennedy was rushed by ambulance to the hospital at about 5p.m. on Friday after saying he felt sick. A police rep tells the AP Kennedy was "alert and responsive" en route to the hospital.
Kennedy was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor this June. He underwent sucessful surgery and received, according to the AP, six weeks of of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Last month, he delivered a rousing, high-profile speech in support of Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention.
