Moviegoers 'Taken' at Box Office

The new thriller 'Taken' won the weekend box office by earning an estimated $24.6 million.
The film stars Liam Neeson as a former CIA agent whose estranged daughter is kidnapped in Paris and he sets out to find her at any cost.

'Paul Blart: Mall Cop,' which dropped to No. 2 after two weeks on top, brought in $14 million, studio estimates showed. The comedy stars former "King of Queens" star Kevin James as a mild-mannered bumbling security guard.

Finishing at No. 3 -- with $10.5 million -- was another thriller, 'The Uninvited.' The film is about a woman who returns home after a stint in a mental hospital only to find that her recovery is jeopardized by her cruel stepmother, aloof father and the presence of a ghost.

In fourth place -- with $8.7 million -- was the canine comedy 'Hotel for Dogs,' followed in fifth by Clint Eastwood's 'Gran Torino,' which made $8.6 million.
