Tamra Barney, one of the stars of Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Orange County," has listed her home in Ladera Ranch for $1.6 million.
Barney said that she and her husband, Simon, are trying to be opportunistic about the weak housing conditions. They hope to sell the 4,300-square-foot, 5-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom home and then pounce on one of the many bargains created by economic turmoil.
"We've been wanting to sell, but watching prices going down," said Barney. "So we've decided we'll bite the bullet." Barney says the couple "isn't upside down, like a lot of people" with their housing financing – public records say the home was bought in 2005 for $1.3 million. And "if it sells, it sells. If it doesn't, that's fine, too." If the couple can sell the home, Barney said they would like a place that offers the family some additional privacy.
"We have been wanting to move for a while, especially after the show aired," said Barney in an e-mail to the Orange County Register. "Even though we love Ladera Ranch, we are ready to move on. With three small children it makes me uncomfortable to constantly find random people in my driveway or questioning my neighbors," Barney said. The couple are raising four kids and Barney says their current neighborhood offers little in the way of security against folks wanting to occasionally gaze at a celebrity's home.
"Yes, maybe we should have thought about that before we agreed to do the show," said Barney. "We had no idea it would be like this."
